Why go

Hahoe is a centuries-old village near Andong where people still live among the tiled mansions and thatched cottages of an old Confucian clan.

The Nakdong River loops right around it — the name means 'river-surrounding' — and it is a UNESCO World Heritage site.

The Ryu clan's village dates back some 600 years and keeps a layout arranged by pungsu (Korean geomancy) within the river's bend. UNESCO listed it in 2010 alongside Yangdong, and the Byeongsan Seowon Confucian academy stands nearby.
