Why go

Seoraksan is Korea’s most famous national park — dramatic granite peaks, valleys and temples near the east-coast city of Sokcho.

A cable car climbs toward Gwongeumseong fortress, and trails of every level fan out from Sinheungsa temple.

A UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, Seoraksan rises to Daecheongbong at 1,708 m. Favourites include the Ulsanbawi rock ridge, Biryong Falls and the giant bronze Buddha at Sinheungsa temple, and it is usually Korea's first mountain to turn colour each autumn.
