Cheong Wa Dae (Blue House)

Korea's former presidential compound at the foot of Bugaksan, opened to the public with blue-tiled halls and gardens.

Why go

Cheong Wa Dae — the 'Blue House' — was the office and residence of South Korea's presidents for decades, set against Bugaksan just behind Gyeongbokgung.

It opened to the public in 2022, and visitors can now walk the grounds, the blue-tiled main hall, the reception buildings and the wooded gardens.

It makes a natural extension of a Gyeongbokgung visit, with mountain views over the old palace district.
