Why go

The Dongdaemun Design Plaza, designed by Zaha Hadid, is a sweeping silver landmark of curves with barely a straight line — Seoul’s hub for design, exhibitions and fashion.

The surrounding Dongdaemun district is a round-the-clock shopping area, liveliest late at night.

Opened in 2014 on the site of a former baseball stadium, DDP is one of the world's largest column-free curved buildings, its skin formed of tens of thousands of individually shaped aluminium panels. It hosts Seoul Fashion Week and major design fairs, and the adjacent park preserves excavated Joseon-era ruins.
