Why go
Gamcheon is a photogenic hillside neighborhood of pastel houses, murals and art installations, often called Busan's 'Santorini'.
Narrow stepped lanes reward slow wandering.
Built in the 1950s by Korean-War refugees, the stacked hillside houses were transformed from 2009 by an art-village project that added murals, sculptures and galleries through the lanes. The 'Little Prince' statue marks the classic viewpoint over the pastel rooftops.
