Where to Stay in Busan

🔄 Updated August 2026

The best areas & neighborhoods — chosen by vibe, not just price.

Busan is a beach city, so most visitors base themselves near the sea. Haeundae is the resort favourite; Gwangalli has the best night view; Seomyeon is the central transport-and-food hub; and Nampo-dong is the old-town market side.

Haeundae

Beach & resorts

Busan's most famous beach — high-rise resort hotels, the aquarium, Blueline Park sky capsule and a lively seafront.

📍 Line 2. A bit removed from the old town, but the beach makes up for it.

Gwangalli

Beach views & cafes

Relaxed beach with a front-row view of the Gwangan Bridge light show, plus a young cafe-and-bar strip. Great for sunset.

📍 Line 2 (Gwangan); a short hop from Haeundae.

Seomyeon

Central & nightlife

Busan's downtown crossroads — shopping, endless restaurants and nightlife, and the easiest transfers across the city.

📍 Lines 1 & 2 interchange; the most central base.

Nampo-dong & Jagalchi

Old town & markets

Historic Busan — Jagalchi fish market, Gukje market, BIFF Square street food and Gamcheon Culture Village nearby. Good value.

📍 Line 1; walkable, atmospheric, budget-friendly.

Songjeong

Quiet beach & surf

A calmer beach just east of Haeundae popular with surfers, with guesthouses, surf hostels and sea-view stays.

📍 Blueline Park coastal rail and Haeundae are a short ride away.

Busan Station & Choryang

Transport hub & value

Around the KTX station — well-priced hotels, the port and Choryang's hillside alleys, handy for arrivals and Nampo-dong.

📍 KTX and Line 1; an easy first or last night in the city.

💸 On a budget? Nampo-dong, Seomyeon and the areas near the beaches have plenty of guesthouses and hostels.

Good to know

Busan stretches along the coast, so choose your base by mood: Haeundae for the beach and resort hotels, Seomyeon for shopping and the best transit links, or Nampo-dong for markets and old-town streets.

The metro connects them all, though rush-hour roads are slow. Sea-view rooms in Haeundae sell out early for the summer months, so book well ahead if you come in July or August.
