Why go

Seongsan Ilchulbong ('Sunrise Peak') is a dramatic volcanic tuff cone rising from the sea, a UNESCO World Heritage site and Jeju's signature sunrise spot.

The climb to the crater rim is short but steep.

The crater formed about 5,000 years ago from a shallow-sea eruption, leaving a green bowl fringed by jagged peaks — part of Jeju's UNESCO Global Geopark. The surrounding waters are still worked by the island's haenyeo, its women free-divers.
